YTC Accepts another generous donation from first essex
On 21 November 2015, First in Essex very kindly donated the last step entrance vehicle in the fleet to us. The vehicle concerned is 34305 (L305PWR), a Volvo Olympian with Northern Counties body which has outlasted its brethren by a very wide margin. It comes to us after a long service life and we will be assessing the vehicle over the next few months to formulate a plan for its future. Delivered initially to Yorkshire Rider in Green/Cream, it was transferred very early to Essex where it has remained.
We are not yet decided on the livery to restore it in, if you have any suggestions, let us know, we may have a poll!
OUR NEW NAME
You may have noticed that our website has had a much needed makeover, and that our name has changed to Yeldham Transport Collection. Our aims are the same and the contents of our collection are the same, however we felt that the Museum part of our name could lead to differing expectations of our current state to where we actually are.
The change to a collection better informs our status and current aims, whilst still allowing us to progress towards Museum status at some point in the future. We still welcome visitors who contact us in advance and our annual open days will continue.
YTC is looking for a new home
You may have heard that our current site has been granted planning permission, so we are expecting to receive our notice to leave any day. We are actively searching for new premises, preferably in the same area we are now but it is a slow process and there are very few properties anywhere near our current size in the area, and within our affordability. If anyone has any ideas of can assist in any way, please contact us.
